Found out last night how good the weather alerts are on my PRO97. I have the weather channel set as my priority and it went off 3 time during the night as we had strong winds and heavy hale in the College Station area. Sure got my attention when the tones went off.
Does anyone else use their PRI channel for weather? I didn't hear anything on the Skywarn channels.

I have the priority channel set to weather on my Pro-97 as well.
You will only hear activity on the "skywarn" channels if the hams in your area are actively transmitting.

You will only hear stuff on the Skywarn channel if you have your local Skywarn repeater programmed in...

I use it on my 97 too! I love that feature! It has alerted me to some severe storms here in South Arkansas.

I set my 2052 on weather alertwith S.A.M.E codes entered when it gets bad here or if they are forcasting it to be bad at night. I can sleep through a good thunderstorm, but not through the scanner if it goes off.

I use my Pro-95 for Weather alert, I leave it on all the time bad weather or not (the alert). I also use my BC 246T sometimes too. What frequency do you have as Skywarn? I listened to the Brenham link to Saltgrass which had a net in Houston going. I live in Hempstead and I can hear the Brenham link on the east side of Waller, so I am sure you could probably pick up that repeater from College Station.

I use my 2052 set with the SAME codes at home when I go to bed with bad weather forecast. At work I use my 97. The 97 went off on my way home yesterday with the text readout as well. Very cool feature. When you hear the warning tone and see Tornado Warning on the screen it get's your attention fast!
