I am hearing the weather band bleeding over on frequencies 155.490 155.595 and 158.9175 and I live in cedar bluff VA. I am connected by an outdoor antenna that has new equipment on it as of today. I have replaced my SD card and I am still hearing this. These frequencies are analog. They are used by Washington county VA sheriff's office Bristol VA PD and cedar bluff VA PD. All other frequencies are in the clear. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks

Dale has a filter for the NOAA WX. Look for the 162 filter. It’s probably $80 plus shipping. He has FM broadcast and paging filters as well…if you have issues.

is the bleed over occurring 24/7 or only when there is activity on those 3 specific frequencies ?
if not 24/7 it could be an image/mix when another freq also is active (paging etc)

Since you mention and SD Card, have you attempted to see if adjusting the IFX would fix the issue ?

What type of amplifier/combiner? Is it located at the antenna. A lot of antenna preamps have severe overload and intermod problems. The Whistler scanners are also prone to receiver overload. If you have powerful transmitters nearby, the preamp can overload. When it does, signals from the transmitters can beat together and produce other interfering frequencies. That is known as intermodulation. You get plus and minus as well as the original frequencies when the transmitters beat together in the preamp. If you have a NOAA weather transmitter nearby, it can beat with other transmitters. One of the intermod frequencies could even be the IF frequency of your scanner receiver and feed right through it. Preamps often create more problems than they solve. The oscillators used in scanners and other receivers can also cause interference with each other. That is why you must have good isolation between the antenna inputs when using multiple scanners or other receivers on a common antenna. I have had scanners in our newsroom hang up each other and prevent them from scanning. The IF frequencies in like scanners can also radiate into each other. That is why you should have a good ground on the cases of the scanners.

TRX scanners usually have this issue in their VHF band. Bleed over, cross modulation, desense and erratic squelch operation are worse in VHF than UHF with these scanners.
