Pro96 Weather Tone

I have used my "weather aware" scanners as a Wx radios during storms. (Pro92, Pro96, and Uniden BCT275)
When the tone is picked up by the Pro96 scanner, it emits a high pitched tone until I turn the scanner off and back on. The other two scanners can be silenced by pressing the Wx button.
This behavior has only happens on my Pro 96. It's done this since I bought it new. I just never thought about asking about it until last night during the tornado warnings here in Johnston County.

Any others noticed this? Is there a "fix"? Or, should I just continue to deal?

I've had one of those critters since they came out, with mine it's necessary to push FUNC then WX to shut off the alarm. I do have one question, why set all three to alarm? Wouldn't a much less expensive weather radio do the trick? Just a thought. Have a good one!

Thanks for the reply,

I haven't ever tried the Func key AND then Wx. Thanks for the tip. It may have been in the manual, but I haven't read that in years. I'll try it next time.

Wx alerts are not the primary function for these scanners. The Uniden is used at work in Clayton. The Pro92 is set-up at home to monitor analog fire and ems for Johnston and Wayne County. And the Pro96 is portable with the best of both digital and analog worlds. And the next one......probably mounted in my vehicle(So many toys....so little money) :)
