weird knocking noise

I have a 1040 i stream Mason county EMS and Fire Department when there is no transmission on the scanner i get a weird knocking noise. Is this normal? How do i get rid of it? Thanks!

It could be audio that leaks a little and you might have too much audio gain set, that gets reduced by a AGC function when there is audio that will mask the knocking sound. It could be the battery save function that kicks in so disable that, or reduce the gain in the device that handles the audio from the scanner.

Do you stream from SIRN, or, the conventional frequencies?

If you have any other scanners, turn them off. You may be picking up a signal from another scanner.

i attempt to stream both but i dont seem to pick up the anything digital, did i mention im new
