It sounds like FLARM which is usually in the 900mhz range if I’m reading right. It’s used on gliders similar to what ADS-B is on large planes and jets. I suppose someone could have rigged one up to a drone or something cause last night I heard one ascending real fast from 500 feet to 1500 feet in a matter of 10 seconds or so. There’s a AMA club a couple miles from me and they r having an event this weekend so I may drive out there and see if that’s where the signal is coming from.

Don't they put them on model rockets also?
That very well could be the case the way the one I heard ascended yesterday so quick But the ones I was listening to were lasting 20 minutes or more and the altitude kept going up and down ...sometimes peaking at 2500’ then down to 1900’ and back up again like a quad copter or drone till i lost it at 500’ ...lol who knows. If I can get a good one today I’ll make a mp3 of it and upload it and link it on here

Yes they are on Drones, Model Helos, Rocketman's heels..... How its slipping in on FRS ranges not sure, but could be the radios are CCR as thats the standard excuse for any radio mysteries nowadays.. "Cheap Chinese Radios, the plague of our times!"

For what it's worth, the Alexandria,IN airport is offering glider rides to the public every weekend April-October. The Alexandria airport is about 4 miles west of I-69, and 1 mile north of SR332, just west of Delaware county/Muncie. I wonder if this is what you're hearing.

From information I just gathered off of the "Soar Indy" fb page, they are the largest soaring operation in Indiana. Apparently the Soar Indy club owns 3 sail planes that are based in Alexandria, as well as 12 other sail planes based at that airport.
