I have a handheld Radio Shack Pro-82 that I have been using for several years. It was working just fine one afternoon and then the next morning the scanner would not pick up anything at all. It scans through all the channels like normal but just never stops on anything. I listen to PD and FD channels in Long Beach, CA and the scanner is popping with activity all the time. A friend of mine uses a scanner and has the same channels programmed and his is picking up just fine.

Has anyone ever heard of a problem like this before? I don't think it is an audio problem because the scanner is not stopping at all. I would appreciate any help you can offer. Just might be time for a new scanner! Thanks!

I had that happen before with my pro97. The antenna connection inside the scanner broke. I took it apart and soldered it back with a small piece of solid copper wire. I am from LB and yes the scanner should be non stop.

Thanks brcoz. I was thinking it might be something related to the antenna. My scanner has a removable antenna. I took it off and everything looks fine there. Would I have to actually take the scanner apart to investigate this? Thanks.

I opened the radio housing and it appears that the antenna is still firmly connected. I will just go buy a new scanner. I can't stand being without it! :)
Thanks for your help.
