Anyone in the area put on the old analog DEA 1 418.625 PL: 156.7. Two women "testing" zones on this freq. They are almost yelling at each other. Very strange comms, highly unlikely DEA related.

I'm hearing them here down south of Woburn, MA.

Sounds like they are testing lawn sprinkler "zones".

Talking about "heads popping up" and zone 11&12 spraying towards neighbor's yard.

They were just talking about their "walkie-talkies", wishing they were smaller.

Home owners/landscapers shutting down a sprinkler system for the winter?

.

They are probably using a suitcase Boomerang repeater to test the quality of a body wire.

A boomerang receives a low power TX from a half watt body wire and then retransmits it on a TRS or VHF repeater so agents can be further away from the deal or whatever they are using the wire for.

The testing is in the open...but the actual operation will probably occur encrypted.

I'm betting someone picked up some used systems sabers and have no idea what they got a hold of.

Yep... that would be my guess, they were talking at one point about someone who was selling those "walkie-talkies".

I would listen to Ch 2 and other repeated pairs too. It might get real interesting when they pop up on one of those and are impressed with their sudden increase in range.

Yup and since DEA in Massachusetts is P25 :)

The only time Non P25 has been observed is when the locals borrow a couple of older radios

It amazes me that you can deduce that from such little information.

DEA regulalry uses conventional VHF body wires in conjuction with these types of repeters and tests them. Could be anything but any good tech tests his/her equipment before use.

Have you heard it again ?? Asking because many of us who actively listed to FEDS, didn't hear this, and am wondering if you actually caught an image of a 450-486 user..

Heard it again today around 4:30P, about a dozen comms L/C and I'm 99% sure it the same two girls from before. They started arguing again and eventually another party came on and informed them that "this was an authorized police channel and was not to be used by the public".

Pretty funny, I guarantee these girls found the radios in some closet somewhere and had no idea who they were broadcasting to....

With the proliferation of very cheap Chinese radios with broadband tx capability, some bored scanner-geek devilish person could fairly easily create some entertainment for themselves & havoc for others by programming some of the radios with federal/state/local public safety repeaters, business repeaters, etc.and disperse the radios into the community.

Unsuspecting people start using the radios, the licensed owners or users of the repeaters have to deal with the situation, and the radio geek can just sit back & listen in amusement at the mess.
