LOCATION: Weld County Road 38 and Weld County Road 17. ( South west of Milliken, CO.)
On 7-25-08 at approximately 4:09 P.M. Troopers responded to Weld County Roads #38 and #17.
A white 1990 Mazda 4 door was traveling westbound on Weld County Road 38 and a black 2000 Dodge pickup truck was traveling southbound on Weld County Road 17. The white Mazda failed to stop at the intersection that was regulated by a stop sign and collided within the intersection with the Dodge pickup truck. The Mazda went off the southwest corner of the intersection and struck a phone box and came to rest on all wheels. The Dodge pickup truck continued southbound after impact and rolled 1/2 time and came to final rest on its top after striking a telephone pole.
The restrained male driver of the Mazda sustained fatal injuries and has been pronounced dead on the scene by a medical physician.
The restrained driver of the Dodge pickup truck has been identified as David Reed, 69 of Johnstown, CO. Reed sustained minor to moderate injuries and has been transported by ambulance to the Medical Center of The Rockies in Loveland, CO.
Alcohol, drugs and speed are unknown contributing factor at this time.
This incident is still under investigation.
