The Colorado State Patrol said a family of six was killed Sunday afternoon when a minivan and a semi truck collided near Hudson.

The Weld County Sheriff's Office said the collision happened on County Road 49 at about 1:25 p.m.
Eric Wynn of the Colorado State Patrol told 7NEWS the minivan was making a U-turn when it was hit by a semi tanker.

SUBJECT: FAMILY OF SIX KILLED IN WELD COUNTY CRASH

On August 31, 2008 at approximately 1:25 P.M. Colorado State Patrol
Troopers responded to a fatal crash on Weld County road 49 (Kersey
Rd.) approximately a half mile south of Weld County road 22 near the town
of Hudson, CO. A blue 2000 Oldsmobile mini van was northbound on WCR
49. The driver went past a family members resident, pulled to the right
side of the roadway attempting to make a u-turn and was struck broadside
by a 2003 Kenworth semi truck northbound on WCR 49. The driver of the
semi truck Brian Wheeler age 53 of Firestone, CO was transported to
Northern Colorado Medical Center with minor injuries.

The driver of the mini van Adriana Ronquago age 26 and passengers Jose
Vencomo age 33, Gyareli Vencomo age 6, Eddie Vencomo age 4, and Jesus
Vencomo age 9 months all of Thornton, CO were pronounced dead on
scene. Jamie Arais age 28 from Arizona also a passenger in the mini van
was pronounced dead on scene. One adult and one child were ejected from
the vehicle. At this time alcohol, drugs or speed do not appear to be
contributing factors in the crash, however this crash is still under
investigation. This is all of the information available at this time and
a update will follow as more information is obtained.
