On April 14, 2008 at approximately 8:30 P.M., Colorado State Troopers responded to a fatal crash on Highway 14 and Weld County Road 23 near Ault.
A green 1985 Toyota Tercel was northbound on Weld County Road 23. A white
1999 Ford F350 was eastbound on Highway 14. The Toyota failed to yield when proceeding from a stop sign, and turned right onto Highway 14. The Toyota was struck by the Ford.
The restrained driver of the Toyota has been identified as Glen Konya, age
49 of Ault, CO. Konya sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic. The restrained passenger has been identified as Erin Miller, age 42 of Ault, CO. Miller sustained serious injuries and was transported to Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland.
The restrained driver of the Ford has been identified as Richard White, age
52 of Nunn, CO. White sustained minor injuries.
The crash and subsequent investigation led to a five hour closure of Highway 14.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
The weather was clear, and the road was dry at the time of crash.
Alcohol or drugs are suspected as contributing factors.
Next of kin have been notified.
