DATE: 7-6-08
TIME: 3: 15 P.M.
LOCATION: Highway 52 at the RTD Park and ride. Near Dacono, CO.
On 7-6-08 at approximately 1:41 P.M. Troopers received a REDDI (Report Every Drunk Driver Immediately).
The Trooper observed and located a red 1999 Ford sedan traveling on the southbound lanes of I-25. The driver failed to yield the right of way by not pulling over to the right and stopping as required by law. The vehicle continued southbound and exited at milepost 135. The vehicle then went westbound on Highway 52 and pulled into the RTD Park n Ride. The driver exited the vehicle and then shortly after a Pit Bull dog exited the drivers side window and aggressively charged after a Frederick Police Officer. The officer effectively utilized a taser. The dog then aggressively charged after a Dacono Police Officer and the officer discharged a round from his service weapon and shot the dog. The dog fled the scene in a westerly manner.
The male driver has been identified as Raul Sanchez, 32 of Platteville, CO.
Mr. Sanchez has been arrested and transported to the Weld County Jail.
Currently charges have not been filed but are pending the investigation.
