Last month I did a ride along with the Hartford PD on the evening shift. Very professional organization and lots of interesting stuff happened but there is also a ton of paperwork for anything that you respond to. I hate paperwork, glad I'm not a cop. During some down time I did happen to scan the West Hartford PD and it worked fine from Hartford. The officer I was riding with thought it was amusing to hear the neighboring town.
I miss hearing Hartford iTalk and PD.
He thought it was amusing but was there any indication he thought you shouldn't be able to hear it?
Good to hear a positive attitude towards scanners. The ride along officer knew I was a radio guy so he had no problem with me having other radios in the car. I didn't run them during normal patrols to avoid confusing things. A year or two back I did another ride along with Hartford and with a higher up that could cover all areas. On that ride I did have my radio running on all Hardford channels to find the best stuff to respond to. We had many red lights and siren runs that day.
By the way, I'm watching ADAM 12 on MeTV now.
It airs at 5PM Eastern.
What a riot!
That's cool! I watched it when it was originally on.I met Martin Miller and Kent McCord in the early 70s when they were filming Adam 12 in my town.
