August 15th 2015 ~ At 17:10 West Metro Firefighters were dispatched to a confirmed commercial structure fire at 9023 W. Cross Drive in Littleton. Engine 12 sized up a large 2-story multi-family residential with smoke in the air, and pulled a pre-connect for fire attack. E12 advised a balcony fire was showing with an offensive strategy, and went into command on the Alpha side. Engine 10 arrived with a water supply, and Tower 10 on deck. Tower 14 was assigned to the Bravo side with ladders, crews pulled a second line off Engine 12 to the Delta side. Engine 13 to the Bravo side with a water supply. Medic 13 arrived and advised that a party with chest pains was on the Alpha / Bravo side, and transported one party to the hospital. Engine 10 advised that the attic was fully involved, command struck a 2nd alarm with heavy fire conditions in the attic and through the roof. Command declared urgent radio traffic and ordered all interior crews to withdraw, and changed to a defensive strategy. District 2 arrived and assumed command, assigned Tower 10 with master stream aerial operations and Medic 8 as Medical. Crews advised that the 2nd floor collapsed & Tower 3 set up with a master stream on the Charlie side. Crews were able to start an offensive strategy again but a second withdraw was declared. The fire was put under control at 19:41 with an extended overhaul. The residents of all 14-units were displaced with American Red Cross assisting. The fire is under investigation.
