Denver -- Two firefighters suffered minor injuries Thursday when one fell from a ladder and landed on the other as they battled an apartment blaze in the Beverly Heights neighborhood.
The firefighters were taken to St. Anthony Central Hospital, where they were being treated, said Cindy Matthews, West Metro Fire Rescue spokeswoman.
"Both were conscious, talking, and they were able to call their wives," the spokeswoman said.
Witnesses said they noticed a teenager near the apartment building that sustained the damage playing with a lighter before they saw the fire.
Investigators were still trying to pinpoint the cause of the blaze late Thursday, Matthews said.
The fire appeared to have started on the outside of the two-story building facing the 1600 block of Iris Street, which is a couple of blocks east of Kipling Street.
