Can anyone confirm if the majority of the police departments on WESTCOM have moved to P25? I verified I have the correct frequencies programmed along with talk groups but I’m only able to get a couple of fire/ems groups now on my non P25 capable RadioShack pro-95. I know I was hearing WDM PD just a month or two ago. Not sure how long it has been since I’ve heard Urbandale and Clive PD.

Programmed 852.9625 854.1375c 854.9625a 856.5875a 859.4875 859.9625a but am getting nothing..... According to the database these are digital signals but not encrypted. I can't figure out why I'm not getting anything? Seems it should work. I can hear the static on the control frequency.

Am using Win95 to program via computer......

Entered the frequencies as "MOT" Rx Mode and have tried "Conv" for trunking type as well as "MOT".

When using "Mot" trunking type the ID#'s listed in the database are invalid in Win95. When I use "Conv" trunking type I can enter various ID#'s. But don't believe I should need any talkgroup ID#'s entered to make it work.

Any help is appreciated. Trying to avoid spending $400+ on a new scanner and keep this old beast alive.

Edit: the more I think about this, I think I'm out of luck. The whole ISICS is trunked using P25 Phase 2 regardless of whether it is encrypted or not, correct? If that's the case I don't think there is any way my scanner is going to decode it.

Your not going to hear any recovered audio from digital signals with a PRO-95. During system cut overs it is common to patch the new system to the old system. Once the old system is un-plugged you will need to upgrade your equipment. If you decide to upgrade, you will want a P25 trunking scanner that is capable of Phase 2.

Exactly how timkilbride describes the temporary connection between the old and new system.

Examples:
If two P25 users are on a talkgroup that traffic will not show up on their legacy system.

If those same two users are on the P25 talkgroup and a third person has their legacy radio affiliated with that same TG you will hear it on the old system..

Ditto above. I have a TRX-1 and have had no issues hearing Westcom talkgroups.
