Westfield UHF

[SCPD]

Anyone listening to Westfield PD (470.5375) notice their volume is extremely loud since the past 2 months? Or is it me?

If you pick them up in Flanders you are doing pretty good. I live 3 miles away from Westfield and they come in lousy, I keep them locked out most of the time.

You might want to reconsider tuning them in.....but wear earplugs.

I was told Westfield and Scotch Plains are on a county tower on the south mtn reserv.

But clearly Westfield is deafening. I haven't really heard anything interesting on the conventional channels so I have been sticking to NJSP. I heard the chase the other day on 287.

Westfield, Mountainside, Scotch Plains, and Springfield all share the county tower in the mountains. Scotch Plains has been having alot of problems with the tower and looks like they will be upgrading when police department renovations are complete. Mountainside gets alot of interferance on the frequency. The problem with that county tower is just that, in the 70's and 80's there were no towers in the area so dept.s had to use the county tower. It covers Westfield and Springfield the best. Its far from Scotch Plains and Mountainside just gets alot of bad interferance because of scotch plains frequency crosses over sometimes.
