Cassidian is dead, long live Motorola! Who knew that a trunked radio system needs to be replaced every decade? Certainly not Westminster as their $2.5 million system purchased from Cassidian in 2013 has joined their previous 20-year-old EDACS system. After getting the minimum advertised lifespan out of their system, Westminster has dropped $5 million on a new site to join the similar aged FRCC system. Will their new old system last longer than their old new system?

The transition might have been yesterday as Westy used Blue NW and Red NW for coverage on the south side, and Westy PD was in the clear for a moment until their FRCC site came online.

Technical information wise, the physical locations are the same, the control channels are the same, the talkgroups are the same, but it is shiny and Phase 2 now. Some of the voice channels have changed, but that should not matter for most scanners. Alternative receivers may need to plug-in the new IDs.

Code:

anyone heaaring anything on FRCC repeaters yet?
Since the day before this thread was posted. They are affiliating to Westminster Simulcast and North Metro Simulcast, and denied on Federal Heights (not sure why they bother to list each other as neighbors as they deny each other). Westminster is unlikely to affiliate with other sites being that the city is in a depression on the edge of the system and far away from the rest of FRCC.

I forgot to mention that there are several talkgroups that need to be confirmed. All of the talkgroups were for coverage gaps for agencies crossing between the two systems and linked via ISSI, but they are redundant now that everyone is on the same system. They were rarely used, so it would probably take several months of close watching and logging to figure out if they have been retired.
  • 4178 (Westminster Police Backup 1)
  • 4179 (Westminster Police Backup 2)
  • 4181 (Adams County Sheriff Shaw Heights East, was ISSI with 38806)
  • 38801 (Adams County Fire Rescue Shaw Heights)
  • 38806 (Adams County Sheriff Shaw Heights West, was ISSI with 4181)

I recall hearing Westy in the 90's over UHF. I think is was 453.425. Right before they made the switch to EDACS. I don't recall where the UHF site was, but made it into Brighton fairly decent.

Did you hear the TG 38801, or did you hear fire responding into the area on their normal talkgroups? Do you have a site that you heard the talkgroup on?

I have been trying to log the system for the past couple of weeks (with different amounts of success) and have not seen an affiliation or voice grant for these talkgroups.
