Alot of talk locally about Low band paging for Fire depts moving from 33.70 to a VHF previous county police freq. is there anymore info available on this. Thanks

Yes. Originally had suggested using the old UHF detecives repeater channel for a Digital alpha paging system. Departments said no to that so now the idea is to use a VHF freq either existing or a new freq as the fire paging. This is to be rolled out over 2-3 years.

They have committed to VHF. They are going to upgrade some existing equipment at 2 tower sites and begin simulcast in 2013.

Thanks for the info. EMS dispatching/paging works great on 155.160, hoping to hear what freq they will be using in the near future.

Any idea if they are going to use an existing freq IE one of the old police channels or get a new freq. That was pretty much were I was unsure of.

Yes they will be using an existing VHF frequency.

We have already loaded receive for the new channel in a bunch of radios. we were given 154.040 for the new paging channel. As stated, to be deployed gradually ove a few years as funds permit.
