Hello!! Im a new user.. and a newbie in this world.

I what to buy a new MW/SW/FM radio.

I m an considerating to buy the Tecsun H501 or Sangean ATS-909X2. Eventually the Retekess TR113 or Raddy RF919.

I prefer the Tecsun.. but I’m worried about the issues about battery life that I´ve read in this and in another sites.

I ´ve seduced by the aesthetics and features of the Tecsun.. but battery life is important for me.

Some years has been passed since the launch of the radio.. and I think if there any failure in the first batches, they must be solved.

Can anyone that haves the Tecsun, talk about his/her experiences, pros and cons with the radio?

All another comments by the equipment, will be very appreciated by me.

Thanks so much!!!

PS: excuseme by my bad English.. I m learning.

Buy the Sangean ATS-909X2 and do not look back.

Chinese designed and manufactured radios are not worth the hassle and are just landfill imo.

Untrue. Do a Google search on the H501 and you will find a lot of positive reviews. Tecsun radios unfortunately never had a good sync detector after their PL660 model, but the radio is a solid choice

The sort-of base model of this is the s2200. Again many very good reviews out there

OP, I’m just wondering, if you‘re a new user, does that mean you already have a multi-band radio, and are looking to upgrade? Or are you actually shopping for your first radio?

I have a 501. It is a very good receiver and was the flagship receiver of the Tecsun line. The 501,S-8800, and the S-2200x, are internally nearly identical and enjoy the same specs. Battery life on my 501 is slightly better than my 2200. I have replaced the the stock batteries with Panasonic 3500ma batteries and using them in either radio gets me around 12-16 hours per charge. The batteries recharge in about 4 hours. Reception with either radio is pretty much the same on the whip antennas. The 501 has an edge on audio, due to its two large speakers. As has been already stated the main disadvantage is a poor sync detector circuit. The Tecsuns are very sensitive on HF, I haven’t used either radio on the other frequency bands much. The 501 has spots for two batteries, but only uses one at a time. The 2200 also has spots for two 18650 batteries, but uses them both. The 2200 also can be operated with 4 “D” size batteries as well.

Here is my old friend DXace's YouTube channel. He actually uses and reviews the S2200X. Be sure to watch them all, as in one video he spots what looked like an issue, but as it turns out, it wasn't.
