I just wanted to get a cross-section of what agencies people like to listen, And if they have a preference as to what agencies they listen to as well.

What Agencies Do You Like To Listen

If it doesn't fly, I don't monitor.

With me being on the fire department, I enjoy listening to the fire and ems channels alot more than i do LEO but I will even listen to them now and then. Sometimes I'll listen to a little bit of it all.

I monitor public safety when there's a reason (hear a siren, see smoke or a circling helicopter) but day in and day out I monitor business, marine, and lots of other stuff as well.

Someone once described the way they monitored like the way a stamp or coin collector collects, they said they collected frequencies, and I'd say that applies to me as well. figuring out what freq is used by something I see, or who is using what I've been hearing is a challenge I enjoy.

Besides your local agencies, What skip channels have you heard?

When I was visiting my Grandma, She lives on top of a mountain and late at night I would pick up this News-Talk station from D.C. (WTOP am). That was like 700 miles!!!

In south florida I monitor the tv engineering channels and the traffic helicopters. Helps alot to get traffic info before it hits tv or radio.

MY two most listend to systems

MBPD/FD TRS Numero Uno (since I live in the heart of sobe)
I mean, a day without monitoring MBPD/FD TRS is like a day with out sunshine!
MDFR is high on the hit list too
Sometimes Miami PD/FD-but they come in a bit scratchy for me.....
News Choppers are a MUST too!

Nothing recently, but many, many years ago I heard CHP (California Highway Patrol) in the 39MHz range (if I remember correctly) and I was in southeast Alabama at the time using a tabletop scanner with nothing but the stock antenna.

LEO and Fire/Rescue as well as my local civil air operations. As a security officer (Rent-A-
Cop), the LEO gives me a "heads-up" if the action is near my work area. It is time to be a
bit more aware and be ready to take evasive action (take cover, hide,...) in case there is
wild driving and/or bullets flying. It is amazing how fast I can get my fat old semi-retired
butt UNDER a pick-up truck or behind a palm tree!!!
