What am I doing wrong

Can somoone help me do I enter frequices such as 861.2141 or 461,3494 the same way into a scanner that I would enter 145.385 because it will not work for me thanx?

You must round up or down to enter these into a scanner example : 861.2145 or 461.3495 Step size in these bands are 6.25kHz / 12.5kHz / 25kHz (band width). This is why they can not be entered into your scanner .If you had a communications receiver like an ICOM R10 you could enter these in because the band width can be adjusted from 0.10kHz -to- 100kHz. But there is no need to do this .

Ok ... Mike .. I am sorry I did not understand your questionthe first time you asked. I understand that you have a BC72XLT scanner. If so, you can only program in frequencies in these bands : 25-to-54 mHz / 108-to-174mHz / 216-to-225mHz / 406-to-512mHz . It is not an 800mHz TRUNKING scanner.

Thank you for your help I think I sort of have it figure out I have voice alert for Calgary fire is in there and Adire RCMP hwy pretty clear I realy would like to motior a tow company in Calgary but this is great for now thank you all for your help I will be trying to find a used digtal scanner aroud the Calgary area next week
