What am I hearing

I am not sure this is the right place for this but I will give it a try. Today @ about 5:30 pm I was playing with the scanner and it locked down on 257.1500, and I heard what seemed to be spanish speaking people, on some sort of radio. Can anyone give me some info on what I heard????

It's possible you were picking up some SATCOM. It's certainly not unheard of where Latin American (LA) bootleggers (there's been wide speculation about this - some think it might also be LA military, others think they are pirates or drug smugglers) actually piggyback (illegally) onto a satellite. I seem to recall similar descriptions somewhere around this freq before.

I hear a lot of these types of conversations on HF, in the 5, 6 and 8 MHz bands. Have logged many of these on all sorts of frequencies in these bands. They speak really rapid too. Never could figure out exactly who or what they are. My QTH is Richmond VA.

I know, I think the same thing myself when I pick-up these 'foreign' 2-way Txs on shortwave. The mind starts to wonder. Unfortunately I never got a grip on foreign languages, even though I took German in college. Once they started speaking fast, forget it!

Have you picked-up this transmission since the first time you posted? Is it regular?
