What am I programing wrong?

I have a 396D and I cannot get the digital part of Xcel utilities from the Michigan, Gogebic County freq page to work. In the menu do I put Ctcss or DCS to listen to the digital part of their frequency. I hear the analog part great but no digital.

In order to listen to both you either have to enter the frequencies with no CTCSS or enter them twice, once as digital once as analog. On the analog frequencies put in the CTCSS. For the digital channels just enter the frequency.

If you want to get a bit fancier you can enter the CTCSS tones as lock out on the digital channels.

The input frequencies are for the repeater system. The mobiles transmit on the input frequency and receive on output frequency. You won't gain any advantage by listening to the input frequencies. In fact, you won't hear anything on them unless you are pretty close to a mobile unit.
