What are the best settings(most likely to pick up signals) on multisite roam?

I have been playing around with the multi site settings on my PSR 500. I wonder if there is a setting(s) that are going to give me a better chance of picking up border line (distance wise) systems. Higher threshold, lower threshold, ect, on roam. But I am just wondering what you guys have had luck with as far as any of the available setting options go (Roam, Stat, or Off). Thanks in Advance, TT.

I never use Roam on my PSR-500. Living in Ohio and monitoring the statewide MARCS system
I want to scan every tower within range, not just the closest/strongest one.
This allows me the ability to hear more traffic than just locked onto one tower site.
So I use Stat and the Check all CCs settings.

The "roam" option was intended to duplicate, as nearly as feasible, the function of a "SmartZone" subscriber to select automatically a single site to listen to as one moves between sites. And in some applications, it functions reasonably well.

The rub is that for some reason (I suspect intellectual property legal reasons), the PSR-500/-600 does not mask for SysID. What can happen is that, if the system in question employs a control channel is one zone that is also employed by a different system somewhere else, if you happen to be near that "somewhere else," your radio may lock on the other system's control channel, where it will sit happily waiting for a TG OSW that will never come, and you hear nothing.

I prefer to select zones to listen to manually, based on my knowledge of how a system operates.

I use Roam all the time on my PSR-500, I'm not near any other systems so the issue above doesn't apply to me. I use Roam with 95 for Hi and 85 for Low threshold and it works so well that I don't even think about it. When I first got the scanner I had it set to Stat and only programmed the 5 towers I'm in range of. I assume you know what the numbers mean, once I found that out I turned Roam on and tweaked the settings till I was happy and I haven't looked back.

I was just there myself 2 weeks ago for a wedding. We stayed in the GTA for two nights, then 2 in Burlington, then 1 night in Niagara Falls, and I could hear TPS from all 3 locations. Here are the settings I used, you should be able to modify all the important ones from within the scanner's menu if you don't use PSREdit like I do:

Multi Site Roam settings

My settings are threshold High 76 and Threshold Low 51. This works very well for me at home and on the road. Trunking multi Site VHF P25 system with 96 channels loaded into 3 systems plus a 5 channel 800 MHz P25 system. I used Pro96com to see just how high and low I could go with these settings to get the very best results. Anything less than 50 for Threshold low is a total loss. You get a very good decode at 75 for a high Threshold. Just give it a try with Multi Site P25 systems in your area and see for yourself.

Do you do this by programming x number of CCs, locking them all out, then selecting a specific CC?

I have a system, with 2 sites reasonably close to my house. I had the CCs of both programmed in 'roam' mode. I was told that one site was a little flaky, so I deleted it and monitor the one site. Seems to be better. FYI, I am monitoring from home (stationary), so I'm good to go.
