What Are The Best Ways To Map Out Capacity Plus And Connect Plus Systems?

As posted above, I am wondering what the best ways are to map out Capacity Plus and Connect Plus systems?

I have a Uniden SDS100 and I am using ProScan to log the active frequencies and Color Codes. The log will also show the CAP, CON, DMR or XPT stamp on it.

Scan the frequency range and set to record everything. After a couple of days, or perhaps sooner, you'll have all the frequencies that are within reach. The recordings will show which frequencies have the same conversations using the same TG that then belongs to the same system. I would say that with 99% probability the color codes will be set the same on all transmitters in one site. Put the ones with the same color codes in the same site and run LCN finder. The ones that doesn't get a LCN can be moved to another seperate site and then run LCN finder on them.

That is great to know. I didn't even know I had that feature. It sounds like the biggest challenge might be having all of the correct frequencies for each system.

Are you using a decoding software, or just the SDS? This thread might be in the wrong forum (ProScan is not a data decoder).

Setup an Excel spreadsheet. Search around and log everything you find one frequency at a time. Then scroll through your spreadsheet and start playing detective and piece things together. Use the FCC database to help identify frequencies (I like the "Search FCC Licenses By Metro Area" option the best): https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/ . Use ProScan recording and listen out for Morse Code CWID's. Then play back the recording and figure out the callsign so you can lookup the FCC license Morse code - Wikipedia .

Here's my Excel file you can use as an example (attached - but you must change the file extension from .pdf to .xlsx first before you open it). And pay attention to the Neighbor List (NL) info that DSD+ gives you. It is a more unique attribute that helps identify when you have multiple different sites that are all part of the same system.
