There has to be something. Its either that or it's the best scanner inovation
since Digital Trunking.
since Digital Trunking.

I only use 2 channels in my first bank in my Pro-96.

For mobile users they care about how easy it is to call up another V-Folder. They don't want to stop and pull over to call up another folder. How easy would this be with a 246T or 396T? Do quick keys come into play?
It's that important, a new paradigm in our hobby. Hop on board and enjoy the ride.

That is an excellent point. I wondered about that myself at one time, being very irritated that if I chose to monitor a specific TG/channel and decided I wanted to skip to the very next TG/channel in the system as I have them programmed in, as soon as I twist the knob it resets back to the control channel(s) I have programmed for that system.
I was hoping that a firmware update might be able to address this situation but so far Uniden has failed to respond to my properly sent email as well as a webform I sent in some time ago.
To illustrate this situation, here's an example.
Portsmouth (system)
Police, Fire/EMS, and City Services (groups)
The Police group has 9 TGs in it, in this order:
Police Primary
Police 2
TAC 3
TAC 4
TAC 5/Detective
TAC 8/Supervisor
Police Mutual
Sheriff
Narcotics/Swat
If I hear something on the TAC 8/Detective TG and I hit Hold to stop scanning and monitor that group, and someone on channel says, "Switch to TAC 8" I would think that twisting the knob clockwise would simply scroll me forward to the next programmed TG which is TAC 8/Supervisor.
But that's not the case.
As soon as I twist the knob (either direction) the scanner jumps all the way back to 4 control channels I have programmed into the Portsmouth system and then stops there listing one of the frequencies.
I hope this can be addressed to provide at least some basic random access to the TGs we have programmed in, but I'm not sure if it can be done - making the current TG/channel on Hold the starting point of an ascending or descending step by the twist of the knob.
This might not seem to be such a big deal in the first group I'm scanning or listening to. But consider my Virginia Beach system: it has 9 groups with 112 TGs in it. That's a considerable amount of TGs to have to twist through to get to the one I want.
It would be nice to add some form of accessing specific TGs or channels quickly, but as Voyager said, for now we'll have to continue using the menu system to do it.
For all the 246T offers, this one thing is my personal nitpick about it.

Holding on a TG then turning the knob clockwise to the next TG works just fine for me.br0adband said:If I hear something on the TAC 8/Detective TG and I hit Hold to stop scanning and monitor that group, and someone on channel says, "Switch to TAC 8" I would think that twisting the knob clockwise would simply scroll me forward to the next programmed TG which is TAC 8/Supervisor.
