I see them being used at Walgreens and CVS. I work at Walmart and they are talking about replacing the murs radios we use to those. What frequency or are these box radios digital?

Are you reffering to the black box with antennas hanging from the ceiling? If so, those would just be for the wireless barcode readers/inventory unit things. I don't remember their name. I used one waaaay back in high school while working at a department store.

No idea what brand those stores use, but many companies make products that will do this:

Example - Ritron makes some:
Motorola:

There are other manufacturers, but you get the idea….
Frequency depends on what the store wants, VHF, UHF….

If you are working at a WalMart, they've been talking about ditching radios and using a smart phone with a "two way radio" type app. The smart phone would allow price scanning, and pretty much anything else you can imagine.

Are they "wearing" these little boxes, along with an earplug...?

If so, these may be a WIFI radio, like this...

I'm seeing a lot of retail places change-over to these.... (ie.. Cabelas, Olive Garden, etc)

Thanks for the link. Never saw those before.
It is one of those companies that has a website that tells you how great they are, but don't actually tell you what product they sell. Grrrrr.
I had to look at the training section for the YouTube videos on how to use the device to even see what the product was.
