Just curious what everyone else here likes to listen to.

My personal favorite is NHP, and because it is on NSRS, I really enjoy figuring out how that whole system works. Now I have 2 radios feeding 2 computers CC info and I am using a few versions of trunker to look at all that stuff, and log the talkgroup information.

My second favorite is to listen to the VICE squad at night.

What do you like to listen to, or what do you have on the radio right now :?:

listening to...

I just dusted off the BC245 yesterday and entered the Metro freqs and the Clark County Trunking freqs--for Henderson PD. What are the freqs for Vice?

What else is good around here? I've started reading here, Police Call, and various Internet websites.

Thanks!

155.115, it is simplex and very low powered. I can only listen to about Flamingo and I-15 down to Russel and I-15, and the strip is very hit or miss from my location in Spring Valley. If you are on a hill you might be able to listen.

I used to listen to vice on 153.980 many years ago, which I believe is the input frequency for 155.940. Haven't heard much on that channel for a long time though, maybe cuz I moved too far away.

I'll have to check out 155.115. Thanks for the info.

Lots of radio traffic tonight. Several 10-50's and 10-16's. And it's only night #1!

NHP Monitoring

I'm responding to the statement someone made regarding that he monitors NHP traffic ("My personal favorite is NHP, and because it is on NSRS, I really enjoy figuring out how that whole system works.") If you are monitoring these frequencies, what primary frequencies are you monitoring and are you using the new EDACS trunk system? I have not been lucky enough to get my scanner to pick up anything in the trunk mode on the 800 MHz band. I use the Uniden 785D. Please share your wisdom and experience. Thanks!

Yes I do listen to the new EDACS system. The frequencies can be found here in the data base. I use the site labeled Las Vegas at the top of the list.

That stinks. Do you know if there is any trunkning activityin your area? Since you are in California I imagine there probably is. Check the data base to see what is in you area.

EDACS can be tricky. I suggest you find a Motorola type II(i) system to start with. When you program the frequencies you also have to set the type of system you intend to monitor. the 785 (which I don't have) seems to require you to program the frequencies in the menu as well.

Let us know how things work out and I'll see if I can be of more assisntance

HUH?? You have the option of programming freqs through the menu system, on the keyboard or through software.

To the guy who couldn't get EDACS to work. First, you have to pick a site that is in range of your location, then program the freqs in LCN ORDER as listed on RR in trunked mode, set the bank as EDACS and search or scan away.

I live up around the 215 and Flamingo. I set the NHP EDACS system using the Sunrise mt site with ok reception. Recently, I added the Sloan site and am getting much better reception. So, if suggest that you live on the SW side of town, use the Sloan freqs. Also, remember that when setting up an EDACS system you always want to program the frequencies in order and leave channel zero in your scanner blank. For example, in a Pro 95 scanner, I use bank 3 for this group. so I leave channel 300 blank and imputted the 1st frequency in channel 301.

I am still a novice at this stuff, but I hope it helps someone.

I prefer to listen to the fire frequencies, i.e. Reno fire, Sparks fire, NDF, and Truckee meadows fire protection district. I have one scanner on Reno fire, one on NDF, and one on TM MAIN and one on REMSA, but there’s a lot of chatter on REMSA and anything good that goes out for REMSA goes out for RFD as well. I have another scanner and I listen to RPD Green on that one because I live where the green channel covers. Obviously I like the fire chatter but that’s because of my profession.
