What Coding? What Speed?

Sooo... I'm listening to a system with P25 coded voice, either conventional or trunked, on my 396t.

Does the radio provide, anywhere, an indication of whether the signal was C4FM or CQPSK? And the bit rate at which the data was decoded?

I can't see this anywhere, and I think it would be interesting, at the very least...

Not that i am aware of.. I looked for the same when I got my396
f+volume twice you get the setting for the audio for p-25

Actually pressing func+rotary knob twice displays the decode threshold voltages. It has no relation to the volume.

I'll bite. If it's not a voltage threshold, what is it that is determining what is or is not below or above the threshold?

(answer: It is a voltage, and the threshold is based on those voltage levels of the incoming data (which is originally a frequency, but is converted into a voltage, or set of them, by the discriminator).

The | lines (where I put the arrows) are the settings you are seeing on the display. The center one is the center frequency of the carrier. You can also look at it this way:
