Question: I live in Montgomery County and im picking up 154.325 (Fire Dispatch) and the channel hand off if "5 Alpha"... Does anyone know what county am I listening to? is it MD, VA or WVW

Im thinking that it could be Baltimore City, CH4 Admin. Or Prince William County Prince William Co. Fire/Rescue, VA. I'm not too sure. :!:

Some of my old notes also show it used to be an old DC Fire
Dept. fireground channel, but I'm not aware they still simulcast
anything but dispatch from their digital trunked system.

Hmmmm...got any town names to work with? I get a faint signal on that freq here in Baltimore City but not good enough to get any addresses clearly. It very well could be VA, considering I usually get blown out of the chair by any of the remaining Baltimore VHF simulcasts....

It is absolutely Prince William County. The signal is the strongest of all I get from VA here in Glen Burnie which is why I listen to them - although the 453.575 Fairfax simulcast is a close second. I think the reach of 154.325 is so great simply because their modulation level is set so high.

Although a little late...

Yes, that is Prince Willy County. I'm a volly in Manassas and 154.325 is the simulcast channel of 5Alpha (dispatch). You probably will also hear the City of Manassas F/R dispatch freq up there, 154.250. We pick up a lot of traffic on our scanners and minitors from Howard County and I've heard from someone up there that they can listen in on our calls.

Every now and then I pick up skip on 154.325 from somewhere up in maryland when Prince William isnt busy. Anyone know who else uses this frequency other than Prince William County?

Baltimore City doesn't use that frequency for any of their simulcasts. They only use 154.415, 154.145, 154.385. The rest is on the TRS.

And for Baltimore City don't forget 154.31 which turned out to be the main channel when the ferry capsized in the harbor. At one time, before TRS, that was the main fire frequency although it only seems to be used for very major events these days.

If you have PL tone capability Wicomico is 156.7. They have a very strong signal over here on the lower shore.

It's Prince William County Fire.
They called to verify the address of the call, and they answered "Prince William County Fire Board. They gave the letter code, but I missed it.

Yes I know its PWC DFR. I know thats their main dispatch channel 5A (KIW334). I was talking about another agency that bleeds through sometimes.

I would bet it's Wicomico Co..they have a REAL strong transmitter...and I have picked them up with no problem near the baybridge, so I wouldn't be surprised if they are carrying across the bridge...
If you hear them calling themselves Central...that could be them...

don't know what PWCF calls themselves....

also Wic still uses 10-codes if that helps
