I am new to scanning and my question might be stupid, but please bear with me..

I would like to listen specifically to the NY Port Authority - JFK

I looked into what frequencies I would need to tune into however, its a bit confusing. Its says its an EDACS system (852.08750, 852.62500 & 853.33750) but, after reading all the information about EDACS, I still am a bit confused. Here are the questions I am still left with:

1. What scanner should I get to listen to them?
2. Can someone recommend a scanner that would work for this system? Nothing too expensive.
3. Does Radio Shack have a scanner which would work for my purpose? If so, can you name them?

Thanks in advance for taking the tame to read this post and replying..

Any scanner that supports triple trunking will work. Triple trunking means Motorola Edacs and LTR its just terms used to tell you what type of systems are supported. These are the radios that will work for you

If your on a budget
base pro-163
portable pro-107 or pro-164

Any the port authority is a really a lot of fun to listen to cause it covers so much.

Let me know if you still need help

I think the Uniden BCD996XT base/mobile scanner and the Uniden BCD396XT handheld scanner will do EDACS systems.
