I am in the heart of baltmore city. I will list the systems I have in my 296d --- -((Bank1))Baltimore City Police - ((Bank2)) Baltimore County Police - ((Bank 3))Baltimore Gas And Electric - ((Bank 4))ham repeaters conventional channels. "I WANT MORE SYSTEMS to fill in these unused banks "Ill take anything"!!! Can anyone list a couple of systems that you enjoy listening to ? What systems or in your banks ? Any possibilities I am missing that you notice that would be nice to have ?

Well why don't you look in the RR database??? There's lots of stuff there...
For example, you didn't mention whether you have an outside antenna, so I'll just throw out a few things....

BWI/Potomac approach/departures
Syscom helo-helo coordination (123.025)
Light Rail
Metro Traffic (450.4875, pl 141.3)
Mutual Aid (154.28)

If you're close to the Harbor, then I'd start searching the marine band, and I'd add a real goodie - only if you have an outdoor antenna, I doubt you would hear this on just a duckie...

127.275 DC ANG 113th FW this freq gets very active during training....
and I'd look around for CAP frequencies as well (if you are interested, email me seperately and off list)

and if you are in the area of the Harbor, it might be possible to get more of the BWI stuff....again, that's listed in the database...(hint, hint).
Of course, the AA county trunk might also be a possibility....

In other words - do some homework!!!

I am almost at the harbor i can get a.a. county a little they only seem to work one or two channels non trunking(dont know). As for the harbor, I am gonna look up some stuff around there on rr database. Have a discone antenna about 50 feet high at the moment. Just wondering if im missing fun stuff, means i listen to baltimore city police everyday and all day!!

From what you said, it appears you have a major problem with the antenna or radio. With a 50-foot high discone antenna in the Baltimore area, you should easily hear all of Maryland other than the three most western counties and those counties on the lower Eastern Shore. Anne Arundel, Harford, Howard, Carroll and Frederick counties should be a piece of cake. There's no reason you shouldn't be reaching down as far as D.C. with an antenna that high also. Anne Arundel County has a full, active trunked system that you should easily be hearing even without the outside antenna. I'd go into the database at this site and program the surrounding counties' trunked systems. If you can't hear them (especially AA, Howard and Harford), I'd get that radio into the shop for repairs or have someone take a look at the antenna for a shorted coax lead or something similar. I hear all of the above with just the little antenna that came with the radio.

I live in NE Baltimore County right on the City line and the only ones I cant hear are DC and York PA and that's with a duck antenna. On my car I have an El Cheapo RS mag mount that lets me get York and on a good day DC. DC will boom almost into downtown Baltimore and York I can hear down to about Coldspring Lane maybe North Avenue on a good day.

In addition to these I can get Fort Meade, Upper Eastern Shore and University of Maryland College Park all with a duck. One advantage to living on a hill I suppose. Curious to see what I would get when I get a roof top antenna.

You can give these a try, too. Forgive some of the old VHF listings for some systems that are now trunked. I'm downtown (Mt. Vernon) and have a discone on the roof of a four-story apartment. Unfortunately, my long cable run kills my reception much above 400 MHz, but I got plenty of window space...

This (edited) list was exported from a Winradio memory file.
