Neither the Easier to Read nor the Uniden manuals have this function documented, so I assume it was installed as a prior firmware upgrade. What does this do? I'm trying to update FreeScan's documentation

Leaves after X seconds regardless of a transmission continuing.

Like a pause? I have this function on some of my ham gear- it allows you to 'sample' a frequency while scanning then move on. How does that differ from an ordinary delay? 73 and thanx Mike

It is only in the future models. Current models don't have this function.

It differs from ordinary delay in that ordinary delay will stay on the complete transmission, then wait the period of the delay to check for more channel activity before resuming scan. So, lets say the transmission was 2 minutes long (EMS sat on their mike again) and the delay was +2 seconds. You'd be on the channel for 122 seconds.

Now, if the channel had a delay setting of -5, in the same circumstance as above you would hear only the first 5 seconds of the stuck mic...then the scanner would force a scan resume.

I should correct myself a bit. Some of our older models had it, but none of the DMA models do (until the "X" versions come out next year).

Bwahaha. Yeah, I'm not a Uniden historian, just a satisfied consumer. But I can confirm that the feature was available on my old BC-780XLT.

Can anyone confirm it was available on an older model?

No they do not have it. However, it is a simulated feature in FreeSCAN. When you set the negative delay to 10 seconds for example, in virtual control mode after a 10 second long transmission, FreeSCAN will tell the scanner to resume scanning or searching on your behalf.
