What else are you listening to in Ocean City?

Was in OC last weekend for the car show!

OC FD and PD sound very professional on the radio!

My questions are:

What are locals listening to besides the trunked system?

Does anyone know the freq for Park Place Boardwalk?

Anyone have any other interesting freqs to listen to while on the boardwalk?

What frequincy do you have for Ocean City Police? Since they went to digital I can not pick them up anymore. Have all the digital talk groups programed in my radio just not picking up police.

I heard the PD real good.

Did not hear anything digital.

Listened to them pick up the drag racers, respond on drunk calls etc.

Oc is not digital. They do have a pro-voice digital talkgroup that they use for chit-chat or stuf they don't want to talk about in the clear, but they are for the most part in the clear EDACS.

Me personally....I keep busy enough listening to the county and OC trunked systems. I am a police officer/emt/ff for the south end of Worcester county, and listen to the surrounding areas when I work. 90% of the time when I am working, the scanner is stopped on some police/fire/or ems transmission.

As for the park place freq's...I imagine they may be using FRS or GMRS radios....speaking of which, I bet OC would be a great place to listen to the FRS or GMRS freqs, with 300,000 + people in OC during the summer I am sure these freq's are REAL busy.

Thanks for the reply. I also have the 460.325 programed in my scanner. I just stoped recieving PD so I thought they went digital. I am not recieving PD in my house or car.

I will probably program in the GMRS/FRS freqs in my 245. Your right.

I will also take my freq counter with me to see if I can catch an employee or two talking.

You're just the guy I need. I'm Pres. of, and PIO for, the Gaithersburg FD but I have an OC condo so I scan the Worcester EDACS system alot. Can you tell me the naming conventions for units in the county? It appears OCPD, for example, all begin with 8, (8061, etc). What about the rest of the departments?

Does Worcester Central dispatch for the sheriff plus all non-OC fire/rescue units?

Ok here goes....maybe some errors, but this is the best I can come up with off the top of my head...and yes Worcester Central dispatchs for the WCSO and all NON-OC fire/ems...they also dispatch Snow Hill PD.

MD State Police
V units (dispatch is on their talkgroup and dispatch is known as BERLIN)

OCPD
mostly 8000 series
I believe most of the 8001-8200 series are full time and I believe that most of the 8300 and above series are seasonals (but don't quote me on that...I only draw that conclusion cause my class mates all had 8200 series numbers and I didn't start hearing the 8300 and 8400's until recently....I am also pretty sure the 8900 series is the OCPD auxiliary
(dispatch for them and oc fire/ems is COMMUNICATIONS)

Ocean Pines PD is 6750-67XX (dispatch on their own T/G)(dispatch is called OCEAN PINES)

Berlin PD 6700-6749 (dispatch on their own t/g) (usually refer to themselves as unit 12 ect...distpatch is HEADQUARTERS)

Snow Hill PD 6100-6149 (dispatched by Worcester Central on WCSO 1)
(dispatch is called WORCESTER CENTRAL or WORCESTER or CENTRAL)

Pocomoke PD 6150-61XX (dispatched on their own T/G) (dispatch is POCOMOKE) (6167 is ME!!!!!!)

Worcester Co Sheriff (WCSO) 6000 series (dispatched on their own t/g) by Worcester Central
6000-6036 Full time Deputies
6060-6063 Animal Control
6075-60XX Part Time Deputies

Worcester Co Jail 6200-62XX (Usually only heard during transports to court ect....use their old UHF system within the jail)

There are also the Shad Landing State Park, Assateague State Park, Assateague Federal Park that can be heard and usually use call signs such as 6280, 6273 ect

Fire/EMS as follows:
100 Pocomoke (fire 3, ems 3) (142 is MEEEE!!!!!!)
200 Stockton (fire 3, ems 3)
300 Girdletree (fire 3, ems 3)
400 Snow Hill (fire 2, ems 2)
500 Newark (fire 2, ems 2)
600 Berlin (fire 1, ems 1)
700 Ocean City (uses own system)
800 Showell (fire 1, ems 1)
900 Bishopville (fire 1, ems 1)
1100 Ocean Pines (fire 1, ems 1)
1300 Worcester EOC staff and radio maintence

I am not sure if they still simulcast on that frequency. They may have eliminated that patch. I think they used to use it for the auxilliary but have recently purchased newer radios, and I am guessing they have handed the older ones down to them. I may be wrong but I believe that patch is non existant now, but will try and find out.
