I have noticed these past 2 weeks 162.4 is on the fritz...meaning the signal is at S1 or non-existent. What gives?

Two weeks that's all? I haven't heard NOAA weather for years. They're old, weak and obsolete. There are so many better ways to access the weather today.

Just go to the NOAA site and look up the outages page or transmitters having problems. Usually listed there

NOAA says it on the air. If it is off air you may be hearing 162.400 off of Broadcast Peak near Santa Barbara. Listen for the call sign. Broadcast is KIH34.
