Nothing much just a scanner that does the following:

All the other digital formats out there including D Star, MotoTurbo, Provoice ect...
No encryption breaking capabilities. That makes us criminals instead of hobbyists
Shows radio ID Codes such at Moto and Kenwood Radios do for like radios on system.
Very easy access to a discriminator tap
Upgradable from the web, so when new formats come out it can just be download and do not have to buy a new radio every 4-5 years

Thats it not picky. Please wrap it up and have under the tree for 12/25

I think you just answered the question as to why uniden isn't creating an all mode model!

Still, It would be awesome to have one...are you listening Santa?

Well, not in time for Christmas this year...

I'm surprised I haven't seen anything posted about this on RR.

The folks in .au, .nz and .jp speaking for .us also, UPMan? I know they are different markets and get different products.... Still good news if we eventually see it here....

I will take RF performance over bells and whistles. How about a single band 700/800 only that is an RF powerhouse?

How about if you could control/program the scanner with bluetooth! Then you could program the scanner from anywhere in the house or listen with a bluetooth headset!

It might have a high resolution display that could decode and output digital TV. An option to decode and display CW and slow scan images. The frequency range could be extended to include shortwave. Maybe it could also display received wireless camera images, and nearby WiFi hotspots.

The memory could be upgraded with an SD card slot, like the HomePatrol.

Maybe the whole operating system could be replaced with an iPhone-like system with apps etc.

Or even better: a scanner with WiFi/LAN capabilities to receive online scanner feeds, decode alpha tags, and receive internet radio stations!!!!!

Or even better!!!: A scanner as before with WiFi/LAN capabilities, but with direct access to radioreference for downloading the newest talkgroups, downloading all the info on a received system, and retrieving alpha tags to save on memory, no programing necessary!!!:twisted:

Pro-Voice technolgy tyoe patents

Yeah lots of us would like a scanner to decode NO-Voice ... I mean Pro-Voice right out of the box.
But, unlike say a medication drug patent that lasts 7 years until other companies can release generics
Technology patents are a whole difference ball of wax. Harris the current proud owner of all the
GE/Ericsson EDACS Pro-Voice type digital modulation patents can roost on that patent as long
as they feel like so Uniden and GRE/RS cannot legally release this feature on a scanner for us to buy.

Hmm, now on the other hand, "if" say they were to be out of their minds and license out Pro-Voice
dealers could then solicit all the public safety depts and propose and sell "a new and improved system"
that they could put the up-sell on as yes sir Cheif McManus this here new system is safe and secure
and un-scannable by the crooks and criminals and we can make you a gQQd deal to invest today :)

Yikes ~ SATX might just wind up with OpenSky or P25-2 TMDA ... luckey when SATX was
taking bids and was in a hurry to commit to Pro-Voice, OpenSky was just 2 months from release !

ps ~ Anybody know or take a guess as to whether MA-Comm did or Harris now does in contracts
"make a promise NOT to say release a particular technology for say XX number of years ~ hmm?

Easily doable with the Arduino remote head you'll find in another thread, with the addition of a couple of BT boards (and some "glue" to make one work with the scanner). Or just a couple of wireless transceivers for the Arduino (they're cheaper than true BT.)

Or, to save text, a software defined radio with the computer built in. That would make for easy online upgrades too, and eliminate the problem of "this new mode needs new hardware", since all the "hardware" after the RF part is done in software (including a pseudo-discriminator "tap").
