Hello board. I just bought a new Pro 95 and with it Ibought the "Data-loading Software and Cable" Cat # 20-048 $19.99. That is what Radio Shack told me I needed to down load off the internet. But, I read on a site on the web that what Radio Shack offers does not work properly on the Pro 95. Radio Shack offers another Data Cable cat #20-289 for the Pro 95. My question is, has any one out there used one of the 2 cables offered by Radio Shack and if so, which one should I use?
Radio Shack did down load the chanels for the area I live in (Hemet, California) right in their store, but that is another thing I read in the internet, that R S software is not the best. The young men that sold me the scanner did not know much about scanning at all and I do not think they down loaded the freqs properly. and what I mean by that is that the "trunk EDACS" freqs (800.mhz) were downed loaded in 6 different banks and according to the manuel on page54, it states that "To receive trunking signals, you must store all the trunking control frequencies in one Bank". Long story short- I have not been able to do any monitoring on the Riverside County (EDACS Freqs) at all. I have spent over a week trying to figure this scanner out. I own a Pro 90 and Pro 39 and I have not problems with them at all. but, this scanner is driving me up the wall. Any, any, HELP would be apreciated out there. What am I doing wrong or what do I need to do to make it right. Please Help...... Ed......here is my personel e-mail if you wish to e-mail me. ETR1STCAV@AOL.COM Thank you in advance.

Go to this link and download the free WIN95 programming software:

http://www.starrsoft.com/freeware/win95/

Then go to Radio Shack and buy the serial programming cable, part number 20-289 for $24.99. This will be the best $25 you have spent and it will work on the PRO-96/2096 if you buy one.

Make sure your computer has an available serial port to use with the programming cable.

You should be able to find someone to provide a program file that you can load for your area. Also check the Yahoo groups for the PRO-95.

Programming by hand is slow and sometimes very frustrating.

The software will allow you to quickly make changes if you do not get it right the with the first attempt!

Good luck, hope this is helpful.
