What is 6G ?

During a small brush fire in Poway today I heard air assets being ordered up. This included a tanker, Copter 10 and 6-Golf. What is 6 Golf? Is that the SDGE sky crane helicopter that is on contract or is 6G something else? The assets were canceled so I wasn't able to get any more information.

Yes, 6G is a RCS talkgroup used in the Metro zone. But not in this context.

Copter 6 Golf is an ICS Type-2 UH-1H helicopter contracted by SDGE. Helitanker 729 is the Skycrane. Both are available from Gillespie Field from 1000-1900 daily, unless conditions dictate a modified schedule. SDFD provides operational oversight.
