that all depends on how cheap... and may depend on if its a hand-held or a base model, and may depend on who you ask. There are a few digital models, made by a few scanner manufacturers. Some scanner owners are true to one manufacturer or another. Some have more features than others. There are even some good used digital scanner models for sale on this site. You may want to try the radioreference "equipment for sale" forum. Ebay is another good place to look, if your familiar with ebay. You need to make a decision, a base model, or a hand-held. I prefer hand-helds, as you can sort of set them up as a base when you've got it in the home. If I may suggest, I recommend a newer scanner like the Pro-106 because I personally feel its feature packed and worth the money, worth saving up for. You may also want to look at the GRE-500 hand-held or the Pro-96. Keep your eye open, and I am sure you will find a nice radio.

thank you for reply. i forgot ask is all Trunking Scanner are digital ?

No. Most trunking scanners are analog. Some good digital trunking scanners are the Uniden BC250D and BC785D with bci25d digital option card, the BC296D and BC796D which have the card built in, and the latest BCD396T and BCD996T. The BCD396XT and BCD996XT are coming out in 2009. Radio shack has the PRO96 and PRO2096 and their latest PRO106 and PRO2097.

Note that you can get good deals on the 2096 but be aware that many have issues with the display going out and some have said that Radio Shack has already run out of the parts to fix them. I saw a 2096 sell on Ebay recently for $127. Radio Shack is closing them out for $299 but they can come down - I talked them down to $280 on one, but I wouldn't pay them over $250. Note that GRE makes the Radio Shack scanners so there are usually GRE models matching the Radio Shack scanners. I personally prefer the Unidens but they are generally more expensive.

Alabama is correct, there are analog and digital and mixed systems out there. Lots of people think that when you mention digital, the first thing that crosses their mind is the screen.
