What is coming out 9/30

I was just speaking with Pual (UPMan) and he said Uniden is unveiling a new product smaller than a bread box on 9/30, anyone know what it is or any sepculations?

I seem to recall Paul O. saying something like "it will be an exciting new scanner product that no one has yet heard about". I can't quite remember where I read that(?)

Yeah, I dont think it is a new scanner since the 396 just came out. I guess it is something you use in conjuction with your scanner I would assume.

I think a new scanner is the only logical thing it could be, and likely will be a base/mobile. Paul wouldn't string us along for some sort of accessory... would he?

It seems a little late to be ready in time for the holiday season, but we'll see...

Let's hope it's a usb connector cable from the computer to the radio. the current serial cable is obsolete.

My new computer doesnt have a serial port so I purchased the serial to usb adapter and it works great.

I've tried 3 different brands of usb adapters, on 2 new computers, without success. The Uniden/Butel software is useless to me now.

Skywatch, I don't know what type of adapter you are using, but I've used a serial to USB adapter on three different brands of laptop with Uniden mobile and portable scanners and never had a problem. I've used ARC780, 250, and now 396.

I use a generic low cost adapter that I picked up on Ebay. It uses an FTDI chip set, if that's of any help to you.

If you haven't tried using the auto detect feature on the butel software, I'd give that a try.

Hopefully it will be a new base size scanner, with digital, and alpha-tagging. They're way overdue. The newest BC898-T was a big disapointment...nothing more than a re-hashed BC895-XLT, with a few (very few) extras.
