You paid for what, exactly? Anyone in the world can listen to any audio feed they want, without paying a single penny. Audio feed providers are given a free premium membership that, again, they don't pay a single penny for. So please, enlighten us as to what you've supposedly paid for that has you so miffed about a little glitch that knocked the server offline in the middle of the night when most people are sleeping anyway?

Consider that, aside from the fact that everything is free as I already mentioned, there are thousands of audio feeds on RR with thousands of listeners at any given time. This is all a 24/7/365 operation, so if you multiply all those feeds by all those hours online by all those listeners tuned in, you're talking about hundreds of thousands, maybe millions, of hours of uptime. So is it really worth letting a couple of lousy overnight hours of downtime raise your blood pressure?

too start with

when i buy these scanners to provide the feeds for people like you to listen to an the servers go down its a problem. i have alot of people that was going to tune in last night. almost all of them were from where i work on second shift last night. an for people like you to listen too. then the servers go down. now i have to explain what might be the problem, an not really knowing what was going on. it was kinda like i looked like a fool last night.

and as for you adding remarks as if you were part of the solution as in a,{DON'T}. DON"T BITE THE HANDS THAT FEED YOU LISTENERS like yourself. that is what i"m talking about paying for. THE PROVIDERS PAY ALOT MORE THAN THE SUBSCIBERS. scanners, coax, antennas, time. yes i do it because i love it an helping people in my area that do not have scanners.

 Maybe it's time for you who is providing these feeds to enlighten your listeners that this is the internet and from time to time there will be reasons that these feeds go down. I don't know why you would look like a fool to anyone who is understanding and understands that there will be downtime on these feeds, I really think you should not over blow this, nothing is perfect and you should take the time to explain this to you listeners.

Nice rant, trouble is you're way off the mark. See, I actually provide FOUR feeds here, I just choose to keep them anonymous and/or under a different account. So please, spare me the BS about how much it costs to provide a feed, I think I ought to know full well what the investment is from a provider's point of view.

Maybe next time you shouldn't incorrectly assume I'm just some dumb listener with no clue.

You actually went out and bought a new scanner just to host a feed on RR.com?

that's awesome...

THE PROVIDERS PAY ALOT MORE THAN THE SUBSCIBERS.

Didn't cost me a penny to provide my feed.

If the people are upset that your feed was down, tell them the HP-1 is now out and they can get their own radio.

If you reflect on this thread, I think your first post put a negative tone on the whole thing since nobody knew what you were talking about.

Yeap, dont cost me a penny either for my feed..You should go to Facebook and look at Radio Refence and see what Lindsay pays just to keep RR up.. More than i can afford.

Thanks Lindsay for RR and the feeds.

Hate to say it, but if you want to personally guarantee your listeners 100% uptime, buy your own server, bandwidth and colocation. Make sure wherever your server is has UPS and generator backup too.
I wonder if that will cost more than the $0 a month you're paying RR.

Ok folks, that's enough. scannernut63, we're sorry for the downtime yesterday evening, and I'll post a full report later today which lets the community know what happened.

I'm closing the thread.
