I just got a new BCD396T and it came preprogrammed with the MPSCS system. What is there to listen to on it? I have been scanning it in lower eastern Michigan and have heard nothing at all. I am in the northeast corner of Lenawee county. Thanks

There is a lot of activity on MPSCS. However, depending on how you have your scanner configured, you may not hear anything. If you're configured to "scan" talk groups, and you don't have any talk groups programmed, then no, you won't hear anything. You would need to program some talk groups for your area, or instead of "scanning" talk groups, you would "search" talk groups, which would then find, and monitor any talk groups in your area.

You indicate that you have a BC796D. It should work in a simlar manner. Have you monitored MPSCS using it?

What Tower or Towers are you listening too? From where I am it is very busy. The database shows towers 106 and 107 in Lenawee.

I think possibly the wrong frequencies are programmed. I just just them against the RR database and only some are the same. The scanner came preprogrammed with many big systems across USA. If I re-program it can I enter just the red (CC) channels or do I need to enter all of them. Thanks, Mark

I program the CC and Alt on my BC796 I'm not sure about the BC396.
I have Macomb, Romeo, Richmond, Northville and Detroit in different banks.
I beleive on the BC396 each Tower will be a seperate system.

I don't think that will work. Try just the towers you can get. If you put the whole system in you probably won't get anything.

"If you put the whole system in you probably won't get anything."

I have the whole system in for Ohio and it works. You may not be familiar with the 396T but it will hold it easy. Mark
