What Is This Strange Sounding Alarm in Kingsville?

Today for the second time in 2 years that we have been in Kingsville this very loud strange sounding alarm could be heard blaring. The last time was a couple of weeks ago and it lasted a lot longer, this time it started abruptly and then stopped, resumed and stopped, it's hard to describe the sound, it reminds one of the ain l warm when there's a prison break, I searched around but so far I haven't found anything that sounds like it, I found one but it's not the same intervals. My wife and I thought it might be coming from the NAS since were about a mile or so away. I asked a engineer who works at the base if he knew and he said it was coming from the nearby Border Patrol station, we are only about 1.5 miles from the station so he could be right. Does anyone know for sure what this is?

Outdoor warning sirens are used to alert the public of a severe weather threat. Kingsville added a fourth siren to their storm warning system in 2017.

It looks like Kingsville conducts a test activation of the storm warning siren system every Wednesday at noon (and the system will not be activated for a test if there is a threat of sever weather in the area).

Maybe nothing, we don't know yet. Once we figure out what it is we may find it's activated by RF...or not. But if it's really bothering you I'd suggest not looking at this thread any more.

It's what you call an air raid siren and many rural areas of the country have them generally as a tornado warning or how they dispatch the fire department believe it or not. That or it's those pesky Morlock's looking for Eloi again...

Sometimes a city has their own emergency broadcast and information channel on AM. I don't see that for your area. Radio stations in Corpus Christi, Texas — World Radio Map
