There's coax going up so it doesn't look like a work in progress. It's in front of Lowes.

Not only is that a disguised cell site, it will probably eventually have a flag on it. And of the owner of the property is probably getting a pretty good sum of money monthly to have that site on the property.

I saw one just like that in the Kalamazoo area about a month ago. They also have one that looks like a big (fake) pine tree.

I was in Gaylord a few weeks ago and I saw some crew working on running the wire. At first I assumed it was for a lighting system or even to raise and lower the flag.

A disguised cell "tower" could bet in the form of a flagpole, pine or palm. A monopalm in northern Michigan would look a bit strange. Photos of some typical options are here...

The pine tree options would fit right in except they probably cost a lot more.

We have one of these towers in a school nearby, it reminds me of a giant piece of chalk.

I think that tower has been there for years. In google street view from 2019, you can see a flag wrapped around the pole. And in google earth image from 2009, you can see the flag on the pole.. (looks like the tower was there in 2007 even)

Its a cell site which has a very hard time of holding on to flags due to the high wind area. I should look to see what the city has in place for a variant in place for that property. There is more times when a flag is not flown than there is when one is flown from that pole.

I've been seeing these pop up all over Indianapolis recently. I just figured they were extra thick flagpoles, not cell sites. Interesting.
