Hey all,

For the past few days I have been hearing a station I beleive to be out of Biloxi MS on 163.3625 NFM P25.

Haven't found any reference to it in RR so I thought I would ask here and see if anyone has it logged and could tell me what agency this is.

Thanks. Wayne...

If it's P25 and strong in Biloxi its most likely going to be a group on Keesler. I know the Medical Net changed their freq a while back and its in the 160mhz range and they're P25 and they ID themselves as Biloxi some times on their net.

Hello Nexus, thanks for the reply.

From the intel I've gathered so far it's coming from the V.A. Hospital. Since they don't use it much I haven't been able to determine for sure which department it might be. It would appear to be security but I've heard things that indicate maintenance as well. Yet the comms are so few and far between I find it hard to beleive that the freq is being used by many departments.

Another puzzeling thing. In the past the freq has been used by the Secret Service. The fact that I can hear them loud and clear in Mobile Alabama sitting in my living room, on the couch with my bcd396 and a rubber duck antenna indicates to me that they are using a wide area network freq. And their callsigns (Biloxi ##) would indicate that they know they are. Yet I have heard no other group on the freq.

I'll keep listening though and perhaps something else will turn up.

Hmmm. Interesting. I suppose it could be the VA. There is a VA Center and Hospital just outside of Keesler AFB here in Biloxi. And honestly I've never bothered trying to look for them before. I'll have to program that freq in and see if I can hear anything. "wide area network" I think you mean they're using a REPEATER. And yeah if you're hearing all stations on that freq then they're going through a repeater. Probably through an antenna on top of the VA itself.

Our Ham club here is fixing to have a UHF repeater installed in that VA Hospital and mounted up ontop of it. We're told it will give us some decent coverage. Please keep checking back if you hear anything else. I will tell you that the VA Police at this facility is small. One patrol unit, and maybe 3 or 4 officers on duty at any given time.

Hello Nexus,

Not just a repeater, but a wide area network. They were talking to the VA Hospital in Pensacola last night. I'm beginning to suspect that this freq is a connection between VA hospitals that would allow them to communicate with each other during times of need.
