Any idea what this racket is between approx. 290 to 320 kHz? For a long time I thought it was local QRM, but I notice it on other remotes as well so it may be something.

Here is a screenshot spaced every 1 kHz.

Hey B, you mentioned this before and I forgot to tell you that I figured it out as well that it was DGPS.

We both have sites in our area: DGPS on Garmin Receivers

Check out the WAAS information in the above link.

WAAS is a different animal from DGPS, although the end result is the same. WAAS uses terrestrial correction stations that send the correction data to a geosynchronous satellite, which sends correction data directly to WAAS enabled GPS receivers.

DGPS sends the correction data to DGPS receivers via terrestrial LF transmitters operating in the 300 KHz range.

Thanks for the clarification. I'll have to try decoding some of that.

It's interesting decoding the DGPS stations, mainly because it can be a bit surprising how far they'lll propagate. If you're into chasing NDB's, then this would interest you as well.

Decoding as I type this... it's pretty straight forward.

B, that Sorcerer program does DGPS decoding. Works quite well.

Now I just need an interpreter to tell me what I'm reading. :)

Have a list of the known Station IDs?

UPDATE: Here's a decent listing: http://www.dxinfocentre.com/dgps.htm

I'm not sure how the whole station ID is working. If I understand the list -- I'm picking up stations from Whidbey Island and Appleton (in WA) and also Chico, CA. I'm also getting one from HI.
