What is virtual scanner

Hello.....I don't know if there has been a thread asking or answering this question already, so if there is, I appologize for the double post. My question is, what is virutal scanner? I have been looking into getting a radio, and part of the features state that along with the talkgroups and systems that it can store, it can also store several virtual scanners, and I am just wondering what that is. You can store the programming in a folde,r if you like, in the scanner. It is another whole set of channels, settings, talk-groups and the like. You can-not scan it but you can store it and swap it out with the programming that is actually in the scanner and active. It allows you to carry channels for another area and switch to using them when you are there instead of having to upload a whole new set of programming from your computer.
