• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

What is your favorite thing to listen to on your scanner?

Most of the time I listen to police and ham radio. During bad weather I usually listen to fire and/or emergency management.

Sting operations, chases/pursuits, & student pilots are pretty entertaining to listen to.

I hear everything but RR and milair. I enjoy listening to all of them. If I get tired of listening to one I just listen to another.:)

Mostly air band (Milair and Civil bands) pretty much at least 10 hours every day (scanners at work).

Other times I'm listening to the local PD/ EMS, AFB and Naval Weapons Station, and occasionally businesses. There's a huge construction project across the highway. Actually watched and listened to the local medevac helo picking up someone who got hurt today.
