• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Mine is WNQ...wait a minute. If I post my GMRS callsign, within a few minutes anyone can find my home address, get a picture of my house and my cars parked in front, get my current home value, get my phone numbers and email addresses, social media info, yearly income and so on.

And from social media you will probably know when I'm out of town or on vacation and my house is unoccupied and ripe for theft, etc. Why would I do that???

That’s why I spend a few bucks a year on a PO BOX, so anyone looking me up online will see that and nit my home address.

Perhaps we should start a thread on paranoia? :)

On the other hand, just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean they're not out go get you.

After years of playing with blister pack FRS/GMRS "walkie talkies", I finally picked up a pair of BaoFeng GT-3TP radios and registered for an official GMRS license: Call Sign WRAR673.

I used to live up the road from you. In the 50s and 60s, I lived in Cass, a little community north of Ozark. We lived in a valley near the Mulberry River. No TV, no radio and certainly no satellite. (At night I sometimes tried to use my cat whisker radio to pick up some of the clear channel stations around the country.) I remember when we wired the house and put in a bathroom (We kept the outhouse as a backup and, yes, we used a Sears catalog.) We lived off what we raised and had no money but, looking back, I was happy. Those were good times to me.

Hey KK4JUG

Thanks for the reply :)
That is still beautiful country, but there are wires everywhere now.
One of my favorite rides is from Oark to Tuner Bend along the Mulberry.
The simple life is bad, at all.

Hope to hear you on the air around here someday.

Deland Florida for those that may ask 30-45 mins west of Daytona beach depending on how heavy your foot is. Hardly in that area though much these days Drive trucks over the road. most of my off time is spent in md of the panhandle of Florida around the Panama City area
