Oh boy - here we go with another "my scanner can beat up your scanner" thread...
With that said, I will offer up my opinion:
If you need digital, you're pretty well limited right now to either the BC296 or PRO96 to replace your 92. I currently have the PRO-96 although I have played with the 296's big brother, the BC796. I went with the 96 simply because I got a great deal on it from a fellow RR member. If I had to pick one *best* all around trunker it'd probably be the BC296 simply because it offers the most features. Both would work very well and each has their advantages over the other. Check the comparison thread between these two to see for yourself. Only YOU can determine which one will work best for you - the feature sets are very similar.
If you DON'T need or want digital, I'd have to say hands down the best bang for the buck will be the BC246T. What a scanner this will be - as I've said before, if they come out with a digital version of this scanner it will be a dream come true. Dynamic memory, built in frequency counter, AA batteries (FINALLY!) EDACS, LTR (I think) and Motorola 900,800,UHF/VHF trunking, the list goes on and on - check the sticky thread on the scanning forum for a feature list. This will be THE analog scanner to own, in my opinion. Even though most of my area is going digital I'm really considering adding this one to my arsenal - it's just got too many good features to ignore. WAIT for this scanner - it will be well worth it.
Hope that was helpful.
